18 Dec 07 - Kununurra - we drove 15km out of town to the "Hoochery Distillery" the oldest legal still in WA in the heart of the Ord River Valley. We got 'the beanie' (DB stole it from Jamie to take it on tour till he and Lou and Isla get back from UK) drunk - you can see beanie leaning a little to the left on the bar there. Hoochery makes Rum, Cane Royale Liqueur and Rum Cake - yum stuff and other stuff too - all definitely worth sampling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
16 to 18 Dec 07 Kununurra, Argyle Diamond Mine, The Bungle Bungles, Lake Argyle - The Kimberleys. Wow, what a place, so much to see and do out of Kununurra. We stayed at The Lakeside Resort Van Park and it has very nice green grass, shade trees and is located smack on Lake Argyle with a stunning sunset view. We flew from Kununurra to the Mine and over the Bungles, it was manificent, AND, they gave us a diamond each!!!!! You can see the Diversion Dam which creates Lake Kununurra on the Ord River. Next is a big big tunnel ring frame at the Lake Argyle Village. Then it is the Zebra Rock Gallery, the rock is only found in one place in the world - and guess what - DB found me some - if I tell you where I have to chop you off at the knees. So Margo is wearing a piece around the neck, and I really love it. You can see the barometers, clocks, jewellery in the pic here - all in Zebra rock. Then another ginourmous Mr Bob the Boab. You just can't help but love them, Margo was able to crawl into this one and see up it's hollow bits - mmm .... lots of spider webs. Next, it was beginning to feel like Christmas, you can see all our bits there at the dinette. A crystal angel and magic reindeer food from our Humpty Doo friends, Australian bush pods we painted gold and had found along the way, a sexy leopard skin Christmas stocking from the Crees family, a stolen beanie from our new friends on bus called "Problem Child" together with some Frankincense and Siberian Fir oil, and some lovely cards and of course the one and only, the georgeous MATILDA!!!!! Next we flew over Lake Argyle to the Argyle Diamond Mine and did the on ground tour through the AK1 mine site, including lunch at the staff village, a visit to the Village Store to do some serious retail therapy (I wish) and check out the beautiful Million Dollar Diamond display, especially of course the world's primary source of rare pink diamonds. We also went through the Operations Control Centre, and back to the shop...... and found a big, I mean big bucket for Margo to stand in. Back into the plane and over an island that just seem to be a big "M" for Margo if you ask me, what do you think, nice bit of real estate??? Then flying over The Bungle Bungles - the amazing orange and black stripes across the beehive-like domes, an absolutely spectacular geological natural ancient formation. I'm afraid the photos don't do them justice....
