27 Jan 08 Broome - Gantheaume Point (aka - Minyirr) 6km from town near the southern end of Cable Beach, it is home to the prehistoric 130 million year old Dinosaur Footprints only visible up close at very low tide - 1.3 mt or lower, but a plaster cast of the tracks (shown below centre) has been made and is at the top of the cliffs. Anastasia's Pool is also below-below right, built by a former lighthouse keeper for his arthritic wife. It would fill with fresh seawater and he would carry her to the pool as a medicinal remedy. The pics below show the striking cliffs which have eroded into curious shapes, revealing beautiful layers and/or circles of reds, oranges and yellows, (aka pindan) and Tilda delighted in swimming in the loverly red water to come out a very pretty shade of pindan - I think we should rename her "Pindan" poodle - they say it stains forever! Great!!! The photo below-below-below-below-below right shows the remaining chimney of the original lighthouse keepers house and to it's right is the lighthouse.

26 January 2008 - Broome - DAVID's BIRTHDAY!!!!! Yay, and what a day and night he had. He started with presents from Margo Tilly and Mum and Sue, some birthday phone calls from family and friends, and listening to Margo singing and singing and singing ................... We then trotted across the road to Matso's Restaurant for brekky and a beautiful view of Roebuck Bay, the staff sang and Tracey (ex-PD girl) was lovely enough to join us with presents for David - a Broome panniken, four chocolate mudcake muffins - with candles - and a Staircase to the Moon cap, we ate, felt ill, and headed off for a meander around town to the Saturday markets at the CourtHouse grounds where we chatted with a local fellow metal detectorererer....... who kindly sort of marked a mudmap with an 'X' indicating the spot for David to try his hand at gold fossicking. Then as evening descended it was another trot across the road to Moonlight Bay Suites poolside for a bbq on the lawn, lots of Aussie flag waving, watching the sunsetting in glorious colours of a painters pallet. A few local folk joined us for the bbq, below you can see: Pete (the maintenance man at Moonlight) and David, then, Tracey and John (the ex-PD folks) Virginia and Peter with presents of a lovely bottle of WA red wine and card, Janet (the properties' 2IC), Kim and Martin - our wonderful hosts and owners of all these properties, their daughter Daneele and husband Justin and their two children, friends of that mob and some other people who work for Kim and Martin. All in all it was a really lovely day and night in a most spectacular location. The poodle of course loved the manicured green grass and she had six or so children to play ball with. Then came the fireworks, wow were they lovely or what. They were discharged just next door to us so we had an amazing view and they seemed to last forever...............then back to the bourban and champagne and eventually wander 5 minutes down the road back to NKA - flag waving and still singing of course!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and more singing of course!!!!!!!!!!!!! and more singing....of course!!!!!!!!
