9th Feb 2008 - Broome - This is the beautiful Gantheume Point (aka Minyirr), 10 kilometres SW out of Broome township bumping along the pindan road. There are three sets of dinosour footprints just out there down the "DANGEROUS COASTLINE" and over those slippery rocks where my finger is pointing towards. The footprints are believed to be those of a carnivorous species that lived 120 million years ago, the tracks are embedded in sandstone at the base of the pindan cliffs and can only be seen at low tides of 1.3mt-0.6mt or lower. One does however need to know someone who can read a compass and take bearings from the lighthouse to a point 115 degrees and 300mt. Good thing Tilly knows how to do that, otherwise David and I would have gotten lost! You can see David checking Tilly's bearings, and VOILA there it is the three toed thingy you can see between my loverly pink crocs! Next Margo's hand fits into one footprint, David is seen here straddling a pair of footprints, and third is the crocs again, they are framing one of the two prints that David is standing over - we found all three, yay!!!! Amazing, Astounding, Awesome.........to be standing on the same spots as those dinosaurs were 120 million years ago - a bit hard to comprehend - but - um - think about it. mmmm think about it. I wonder where they were going????
