16 Jun 2008 - Perth - two and a half hours after take-off I am standing with the ever-famous Pigrim Brothers at Perth Airport. I couldn’t believe my luck, after having heard so much about these singers from Broome and not having met or seen them yet, to meet them in Perth was fab, and, it turns out they would be performing tonight at the Opening Ceremony at ATE……..how exciting!!!!!!
So after a half hour trip on the local bus to Perth City Cathie takes me to my new abode in Perth for two nights - Mounts Bay Waters on Mounts Bay Road in the Acacia Apartments …….. it is very nice with a great view of the city and the Swan River and even a rainbow to boot.
Next it was time to carry this Calypso advertising stuff thingy from the apartment to the Convention Centre, bit of an awkward shape, and as you can see the lovely Jacqueline is in Perth too, doing the ATE thing with Cathie. So off we trotted with our odd shaped package and rugged up with coats, scarves, boots and brollies (bit different to the 30 degrees in Broome) to do battle with the racing traffic lanes, puddles and construction workers, traffic lights, and, that odd package………do you like our girl engineering to fabricate a handle for this thing – one simply removes one’s scarf, tie it around the parcel and viola we have a handle …….
