So here is margo's next new job - Weather Girl for the Bureau of Meterology at the Cygnet Bay Weather Station No. 003057. John John girl builder and margo and poodle and Ellie-dog the farm collie are on training together, and the lovely Teresa is teaching us. We go to work at 9:00hrs, 06:00hrs, 15:00hrs and 00:00hrs, check the digital barometer, the barograph, the attached thermometer, then hats and sunnies on and out to the rain gauge, then the Stevenson Screen to read the Dobbie thermometres - the dry bulb, the wet bulb, the maximum bulb and the minimum bulb - note all that down, and then read the wind direction from the wind vane, guess the wind speed via the hairs on your face, study the cloud height, formation and movement, note that down......... head back to our sandbag BOM office, enter data onto BOM computer, telephone same through to Broome BOM and sign off for $9.17 pay per reading. Traipse back to the shack, have-a-chat on the way, sit down for a cuppa and wait till the next designated reading time. It's great mate!
