6 Jul 09 Cygnet Bay - check out margo's new "ping pong ball on a piece of cardboard" home made Anometer (wind speed measurer thingy), I found the info on Google and can now acurately (ha ha) measure the wind speed to report the weather to the Bureau of Meterology. Perhaps it will be more accurate than guesstimation via the old wet finger in the air! According to our lounge room fan, Notch 1 on the fan is 5 knots, Notch 2 is 10 knots, and notch 3 is 15 knots - yeehah! And today's official reading was 4-8 knots averaging 6 knots from the SE. (PS The BOM requires wind speed to be recorded in even numbers only, and recording the minimum and gusting speeds! Now you know all about it - off you go and record the weather - the pay is great, $9.17 per reading, starting at 06:00, then 09:00, then 15:00, then 12:00 midnight.
