05 Jan 08 Derby. Our first vision of the sun going down on the ocean - The Indian Ocean.........stunning.....huge...oh my God stuff. And the boab trees are getting bigger by the day, walking on the mud flats is just amazing, they seem to go out to sea forever. This is a wonderful country this country of ours.............................................................................................................
05 Jan 08 Fitroy Crossing to Derby. UNBELIEVABLE - yesterday 3:00 ish it was 40 degrees in the shade, by 5:00 pm it was hailing - true. I dunno, cyclones to the north, fires to the south and we in hail.................................................................
Boab nut update............................finally, I head out to Junjuwa Community 8: am and find the street with no name and locate the blue house between 2 red houses, and out comes Malcolm and Julie smiling as big as the harbour bridge.......he had finished carving the nut, and as you can see below, it is absolutely georgeous........, the carving goes all the way around the nut, he did a roo, an emu, a bush turkey and gum trees..... I couldn't help myself, but gave them both a kiss and so ends that adventure.
We then left all of our friends behind at Fitzroy Crossing (as the picture demonstrates) and drove WNW 284 km along the Great Northern Highway to Derby.
