21 Mar 2008 - Broome to Cygnet Bay - below is the "road" to Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm 211km north of Broome - where David's new career will begin - the puddles you can see I am told can be the size of a swimming pool, and one can never quite tell how deep the ruddy things are - the red pindan road is slippery and boggy - all in a day's drive I suppose! On the right is the Cygnet Bay signpost - 44 gallon drum style. It was this drum that caused Margo much consternation whilst navigating for the first time to David's Pearl Farm. I thought David had told me to look for the 'secret tree'......not the 'cygnet tree', because when DB was first driven up there by Jacko, the grass had overgrown the 44 gallon drum, so he told me to look for a tree that had a sort of dirt road around it, and if you followed that track, then you came across a "DO NOT ENTER" sign, then a "PRIVATE PROPERTY' sign, and so on etc., etc...............................so I started looking for a "secret tree"with a track around it for about 80km before the due spot. Hmpf.......hmpf..........and low and behold, there was this dirty great 44 gallon drum with a bloody sign on it "Cygnet Bay"..............we ie., Tilly, Mick and I - had finally found it, and proceeded to head down the pindan track past the inhospitable signs straight to David's Boat Shed.
So - here it is David's new work shed where his toes get wet in the shed at high tide (10mt tides here) and on the right is the view from his shed - it was called the Boat Shed before DB arrived, but is now known as "Dave's Boat Shed" as heard over the marine radio!!!!! And as this is a farm, the place is littered with all sorts of sheds, the work shed, the splicing shed, the tool shed, the pearl seeding shed, the fuel shed, the shell shed, the machinery shed, the pump shed, the cyclone bunker shed, the generator shed, and on and on............. DB can be found staring out to sea from his shed during smoko and he doesn't seem to mind that view!!!!!

21 Mar 2008 HAPPY EASTER!!!! Tilly and I and "Mick" the Rav 4 camel (close cousin to Linnea and Mort's "Slick'' the Rav 4 camel) headed up that 211 km pindan road for the first time to see David for Easter (shame my ears are crooked - rough road you know luvs, a bit of a change from the rough seas the ears usually endure)!!!! Having never attempted four wheel driving before, it took me 5 hours of holding my breath to get there (the Cyggy Bay boys do it in 2.25 hours). I took my bunny basket and eggs and had a beautiful easter (except for the melted eggs) with David and the Cygnet Bay crew. David has now been moved from his single-man's quarters to a two bedroom luxury villa. It has a single room and a master bedroom, inside toilet, inside shower, inside washing machine, a kitchen and lounge room and TV - what utter utter luxury - even shade cloth for windows instead of glass!!!!!!! To top off a lovely Easter, Will the Chef even served easter eggs - not melted - to everyone at dinner in the mess, that was quite a feat - un-melted easter eggs in 34 degrees heat, not bad Will, thank you!!!!!
