PEDESTRIANS
GIVE WAY
TO VEHICLES
This is one of the many contraversial signs we see dotted all around Chinatown - comedian John Doyle and former Australian of the Year Tim Flannery travelled across the north of Australia (the same - ish trip David and I have just done) as part of the ABC series "Two in the Top End". On their arrival in Broome after their marathon trek across the top Doyle's first observation was that pedestrians were second-class citizens here in Broome. He mused that the signs put the car in its true perspective here - cars first - pedestrians second !!!!
